You’re now 100% ready to conduct your 1st problem interview!
Great work, seriously. You’ve worked hard to get this far!
This entire Section 2.3, “Problem Interview Notes,” is dedicated to serving as your documentation of all 10 problem interviews, starting with the Demographic Information.
Use the template included on page 15 of the Idea Validation Guide that you downloaded from the Roadmap page to take notes and conduct your problem interviews. The template is a checklist of the information you’ll be entering into Modules 2.3.1 through 2.3.10, so it will be near plug and play when you type it all in. We recommend printing out ten copies of the template and taking notes by hand when you’re talking to your interviewee .
We do not recommend using your computer during any 1:1 or group interviews. This approach will really distract your interviewees and they may not loosen up enough to give you any valuable information. Hand notes usually work well, but make sure you ask their permission to “jot down a few notes.” Most people actually value this approach because it gives them the impression that you’re paying better attention than if you were just listening intently. It may even keep you focused!
After you’ve completed your interview, quickly come back to Snappier and fill in your notes while it’s fresh in your mind.
